Screen Registrations For Fraud

A county official is warning people to beware of voter registrations that are suspicious and may be fraudulent. District Attorney Heather Adams says her investigators have discovered that a number of registration forms delivered near the Oct. 21 deadline in Lancaster County contained bogus information, and the applications have been reported to federal authorities.

Screen registrations for fraud will often try to coerce people into granting remote access, requesting that they use software to guide them in installing investment software on their computer. Criminals will build a fake relationship with their targets over time and can even make their caller ID look authentic to fool the victim into believing they are communicating with a recognised business or investment firm.

How to Screen Registrations for Fraud Effectively

Attempts to breach online systems that govern businesses and consumers are another common form of registration fraud. A robust fraud solution that helps separate safe from risky interactions by using digital insights, device fingerprinting and advanced risk analysis can reduce friction for legitimate users while securing trust in critical online transactions.

The FMCSA is taking steps to combat registration fraud, including a new five-person team that will focus solely on the issue, assisting truckers who are victims of fraud and identifying measures to help prevent it. The agency also is keeping motor carrier and broker PIN numbers out of electronic communications, requiring verification of identity when changing information on file with the FMCSA and asking for proof of driver’s license before allowing an individual to change his or her status.
